OUR GOAL
BIoMaS aims to produce economically feasible biofuels from
seagrasses. Using our top of the line research facilities, we look for
new ways forward in biofuel production.
For these biofuels to be feasible for market, the genetic engineering of
seagrasses for this purpose is essential. BIoMaS aims to research and facilitate
the modification of these genes, in hopes that one day fossil fuels may be
a thing of the past.
We aim to raise lipid content, growth rates, and growth densities in our seagrasses, so that
these algal biofuels can be commercially viable.
BYPRODUCTS
As part of our biofuel production, we aim to use all of the seagrass in our process. Of course, not all of it can be used for
fuel production - which is why we create publically available products out of the remaining algae.
Some of these products include:
- Pharmaceuticals (such as vaccines)
- Sunscreen
- Hair care products
WASTEWATER
Algae can be used in wastewater treatment to remove emissions, then recycled for use in biofuels after. BIoMaS researches ways to make this process easy and simple.
Microalgae can lower GHG emissions by 4-5%!
